TIP FOURTEEN – INDOOR PLANTS ☀️

Do you have an indoor plant?

Studies have shown that spending time with plants can improve our mood, reduce stress and encourage physical activity and other positive behaviours.

Much like every other being, plants require a certain amount of attention in order to thrive. They remind us of the importance of self-care, kindness and compassion to thrive. Due to plants needing care and attention, they can also give us a sense of purpose and help us to feel needed when going through a low patch. In this way too, they can act as unlikely companions during times of struggle.

Certain plants, like the Lavender plant are also super flowers for our mental wellbeing.

The fragrance from a lavender plant, for example, is believed to help promote calmness and wellness. Lavender is also said to help reduce stress, symptoms of anxiety, and possibly even mild pain. It is recommended that you close your eyes and take in a few deep breaths of Lavender whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed or when you want to get a good night’s rest because as you inhale the relaxing scent, it’ll help calm you down.

The good thing about plants is that if you cannot afford to buy one, one of your friends (or someone they know) may be able to give you a cutting of theirs for free. It is a cost-effective, natural way to boost our mental fitness!
